This process makes the glass much more resistant to mechanical shock and thermal shock.
Tempering is carried out with glass manufacturers equipped with a specific oven.
This technique is suitable for thermoformed and / or enamelled float pieces of glass and can then be assembled in insulating glass. However stained glass windows in traditional technique, like those of François Morellet for the Louvre Museum, are made after tempering each of the pieces of glass stained glass.
